At 11 years of age, Naya Summy has remarkable maturity and poise. She’s very honest about how tough things have been since a diagnosis of medulloblastoma, a rare brain cancer. But her beautiful smile continues to bloom frequently, especially when she’s spending time with her family and friends or riding her horse, PaintJack.
“You have to look at the upside of things,” she says. “You have to find things to do to keep you enjoying every day, things that just make you happy.”
As a Parkway Run & Walk Ambassador, Naya is focused on raising money for pediatric cancer research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she is being treated. The Parkway Run happens during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month each year, concluding a month’s worth of work that reminds us there’s a war to be won against pediatric cancer. Do your part this September. Walk for Naya.
